Alicia and Alex’s wedding - 26th April 2009

Justine and I met Alex and Alicia a little while ago, Justine meeting Alicia at a photography seminar and I met Alex also at a photography workshop both on seperate occasions. It wasnt until later that we realised that they were actually partners. We hit it off with these guys as they have the same wicked sense of humour as us. So when Alex finally popped the question, they decided they wanted us to photograph their wedding.

We started off with Alex and Ben (his best man) nice and early at their hotel. Alex would have to be one of the biggest jokers I have met, even bigger than me and thats saying something. I have never seen anyone have so many different facial expressions, he is crazy!
We then went to see Alicia and Paula at their house. Alicia had been delayed at the hairdressers so was under the pump to be ready in time. We only had a few minutes to take some portraits before leaving for the ceremony. As we were driving Alicia to the wedding, we were cracking the whip to get her in the car!
We arrived at the ceremony a little late but Anne Campbell the lovely marriage celebrant had it all under control and before we knew it, the ceremony was underway. All was going smoothly until Alex received a text during their vows. Alex forgot to turn his phone off! Eveyone was laughing hysterically and next thing we see Alex toss his phone down the isle. It certainly loosened eveyone up and the ceremony continued on without anymore interuptions.

Their reception was held at the Icon at Raby Bay. Alex and Alicia had decided to wait until after their reception to have their location photos. So once the reception had finished we headed down the coast for some photos and then of course Alicia wanted to trash her dress!

We trecked for ages though sand dunes and grass. The misquitos were the worst we had ever seen. The things photographers will do for photos! We finished as the sun had set and then had to treck back again but this time in the dark.

Most people think that photographers would be comfortable being in front of the camera but its not entirely true. We are most comfortable giving direction and being behind the lens, so for Alicia and Alex it was a big step being put into our control and letting us run the show. They did extremely well as the photos show. Well done guys!!
Oh and big shout out to Ben, the Bestman and his wife Jane. They took care of alot of things on the day, letting Alex and Alicia enjoy their day.

Warm Regards
